Pretty Deadly: Vol.1 by Kelly Sue Deconnick and Emma Rios

The word that sums this story up for me is “dreamlike”. Both the story and the art and the colours used are really trippy in an amazing way. There is death and his daughter, it’s a western, myth and legend flow through it and it is narrated by a dead rabbit and a butterfly. Don’t want to say much else, other than I think I am in love.

One thing I really appreciated about this book was how it told a story which had a conclusion. It is part of a series which will continue in the next book, but this particular story arch concluded and the next book will head off in a different direction. I have been reading a lot of first volumes at the moment and I often feel very unsatisfied with the amount of story you get. But with this that was not the case. When it concluded it was satisfying.
